Understand torque request
Pedal position does not directly mean more fuel. In many systems, a torque request is calculated and passed through several limiters.
Torque model
Modern ECUs often use torque-based strategies. Driver wish, torque limiters, injection quantity, boost pressure, air mass and TCU limits need to work together for clean and predictable vehicle behavior.
Context
Torque optimization often touches multiple layers: driver wish, maximum engine torque, smoke or air-mass limits, injection quantity, boost, rail pressure, temperature and protection strategies as well as gearbox interaction. A good request therefore describes more than “more torque”; it includes symptoms, target range, logs and ECU/TCU data.

If some areas are raised while other limits remain unchanged, power may be internally clipped or released unevenly.
Automatic and dual-clutch transmissions can report, limit or request torque reduction. That affects calibration work.
